November 14th is celebrated every year as World Diabetes Day by the International Diabetes Federation and its associated member groups. It became an official United Nations Day in 2007.
Education and prevention are the themes for 2009-2013. The aims are to raise awareness and understanding of diabetes among those with diabetes, governments, healthcare professionals and the general public.
